Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator with a strong background in commercial drywall and acoustical ceiling systems . The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate project bids, reviewing plans and specs, and coordinating with general contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure successful project acquisition.

Duties

• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to prepare detailed cost estimates for drywall and ceiling scopes.
• Utilize estimating software such as BuzzBID and Bluebeam to create accurate and detailed cost estimates.
• Build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and evaluate competitive pricing.
• Prepare and submit complete bid packages in a timely manner.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, walkthroughs, and site visits as needed.
• Coordinate with project managers and field supervisors on awarded projects to ensure a smooth hand-off.
• Maintain organized records of estimates, correspondence, and pricing databases.
• Conduct site visits to gather information on project conditions and assess potential challenges.
• Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budget constraints.
• Prepare detailed reports that outline estimated costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead expenses.
• Assist in project management tasks as needed to support overall project success.

Skills

• 3+ years of experience as an estimator in commercial drywall and acoustical ceilings.
• Proficiency in reading construction documents and specifications.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Excel and estimating software (Buzzbid, OST, Bluebeam, or similar).
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of local construction market, codes, and material suppliers in the DFW metroplex is a plus.
• Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable contract terms with clients and vendors.
• In-depth knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
• Familiarity with construction sites and the ability to assess site conditions effectively.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate cost estimation.
