Job Title: Estimator

Location: Scarborough, ME

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Compensation: $125,000–$135,000 annually (based on experience)

Overview

An established and growing commercial construction firm is seeking a full-time Estimator with proven experience in leading the estimating process for commercial building projects. This is a key role within the pre-construction team, offering an opportunity to contribute directly to the company’s continued success in Southern Maine and Northern New England.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project documents, including drawings, specifications, and schedules across all disciplines (architectural, civil, structural, MEP, fire protection, etc.)
• Produce accurate quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff
• Prepare detailed cost estimates by CSI division, including labor, materials, and timelines
• Maintain and update a historical cost database
• Conduct bid leveling and assemble final proposals for submission
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and internal review sessions as required
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor pricing based on defined scopes of work
• Develop Requests for Proposals and coordinate subcontractor communication
• Ensure estimates comply with internal standards and client requirements
• Identify project-specific risks and account for them in cost analysis
• Collaborate with architects, owners, project managers, and other stakeholders
• Support a smooth handoff of awarded projects to the operations team

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
• Minimum 5 years of commercial estimating experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating, and Bluebeam
• Ability to prepare both hard bid and conceptual estimates
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Strong knowledge of current market pricing and construction means and methods
• Proven ability to manage deadlines and prioritize multiple concurrent estimates
