Position: Executive Director

Reports to: Board of Directors

Payroll Status: Salaried, Exempt

Location: Louisville, KY

Hours: Full-time

Who We Are: New Life Directions Ministries exists to empower, encourage, and equip homeless single mothers. Through gospel-centered holistic care, New Life Directions Ministries’ vision is to see every mother know her identity in Christ, develop life skills, and ultimately become a self-sufficient single mother. We support each woman by providing a Single Mom University training program, case management, life skills training, counseling, social services, child care assistance, and some financial client assistance. 

Summary: The Executive Director serves as the primary leader and visionary for the organization, overseeing strategy, operations, and fundraising efforts to ensure sustainable impact. This role works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and community stakeholders to fulfill the organization’s mission. Key responsibilities include strategic leadership, team development, program development, collaboration on fundraising initiatives, financial oversight, and representing the organization publicly.

Role Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Lead organizational growth initiatives to expand impact and reach.
  • Foster strong relationships with the Board, ensuring clear communication and alignment on goals.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Oversee, mentor, and guide the NLDM team to ensure alignment on priorities and processes.
  • Collaborate with CHRO for hiring, onboarding, and staff development to maintain a positive organizational culture.
  • Foster an environment of accountability, inclusion, and professional growth.

Program Oversight and Impact:

  • Partner with Property Management Company to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Partner with Child Development Center to ensure collaboration and effectiveness
  • Develop high-quality programs and services, such as Single Mom University, that align with the organization’s mission.
  • Measure program outcomes and adjust strategies to maximize effectiveness.

Development and Community Engagement:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to create and execute annual and long-term fundraising strategies to meet financial goals.
  • Advocate for the organization’s mission and the population it serves through public speaking and media engagements.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to develop strategies to recruit, train, and engage volunteers, ensuring meaningful opportunities for community involvement.
  • Stay informed of trends and innovations in fundraising to enhance the organization’s development efforts.

Financial and Operational Management:

  • Oversee financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring expenses.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accountability and transparency in financial operations.
  • Manage operational processes and infrastructure to support organizational efficiency.

Governance and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Support the Board in governance activities, including policy updates and strategic planning.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of proven leadership experience in a nonprofit organization
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience directly managing and supervising team members, including providing performance feedback, mentoring, and ensuring team accountability.
  • Strong strategic planning, financial management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to inspire and engage diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in donor management tools and office productivity software.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check
