Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled IBM Server Specialist for our onsite team in Lake Mary, Florida, with proven experience in managing and supporting IBM server environments. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of our IBM-based systems, including legacy infrastructure and integrated external applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in backup and restore operations, server reconfiguration, performance optimization, and IBM system certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, maintain, and support IBM server environments (e.g., IBM Power Systems, AS/400 (IBM iSeries), AIX).
• Perform complete backup and recovery operations, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.
• Restore systems and applications during outages or hardware/software failures with minimal downtime.
• Reconfigure server settings and system parameters for performance optimization or operational needs.
• Work closely with application developers and third-party vendors to support, troubleshoot, and enhance external applications running on IBM systems.
• Monitor system performance, implement updates and patches, and conduct routine maintenance tasks.
• Implement and test disaster recovery plans and procedures.
• Document all technical procedures, changes, and system configurations.
• Stay current on IBM technologies, security protocols, and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Proven hands-on experience with IBM server environments (e.g., IBM Power Systems, AIX, IBM i / AS/400).
• Strong understanding of IBM backup and restore utilities , BRMS, and disaster recovery protocols.
• Experience with reconfiguring IBM systems , logical partitioning (LPARs), and resource allocation.
• Familiarity with external application integration (e.g., middleware, ERP systems, legacy applications).
• Solid troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across hardware, operating system, and network layers.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Certifications:

• IBM Certified System Administrator – IBM i.
• IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert – Power Systems.
• IBM AIX Administration Certification.
• Any other relevant IBM or infrastructure certifications. (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Red Hat for hybrid environments).

Nice to Have:

• Experience with scripting (CL, Bash, PowerShell).
• Knowledge of cloud integration or hybrid infrastructures.
• Familiarity with enterprise backup tools (e.g., Veeam, IBM Spectrum Protect).
