Job Description

A small, one-attorney law firm in Syosset, Long Island, is seeking a highly organized and tech-savvy Legal Secretary/Administrative Assistant to manage front desk responsibilities and support daily legal operations. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative, data entry, and legal experience, along with the ability to modernize office technology.

• Salary is 65-70k Temp to Perm is possible or direct hire

Responsibilities:

• Answer and direct phone calls professionally.
• Maintain and input attorney timekeeping records in the system.
• Handle data entry with accuracy and efficiency.
• Assist with legal and paralegal tasks, including drafting and editing documents.
• Manage court filings and submission of legal documents.
• Process billing hours and input time slips into the database.
• Perform heavy typing and document preparation.
• Scan, file, and organize legal documents.
• Order office supplies and ensure the office is well-stocked.
• Improve and update outdated technology and office systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Prior legal secretary or administrative experience in a law firm.
• Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court filing systems, and document formatting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal database systems.
• Excellent typing skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and manage administrative duties efficiently.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Tech-savvy, with the ability to upgrade office systems and improve workflow.
