The Painter is responsible for making paint repairs and adjustments to small and large areas of heavy equipment, aerial equipment, and other various painting projects.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Clean machines, prepare for painting, paint and decal equipment, components, or parts.
Load and unload equipment, components, or parts.
Transport equipment, components, or parts around the facility.
Maintain painting related tooling.
Perform all tasks in a manner that ensures customer satisfaction and prompt invoicing and payment for work performed.
Take proper care of all company owned assets and keeps work area clean and orderly.
Perform all of the above functions in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting
Select and mix coating additives to thin or promote drying and adhesion
Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives
Uses high air-pressure sandblasting equipment, chemical application, chipping hammer, power tools and other abrasives to remove rust, grease, dirt, concrete, and old paint prior to paint application
Apply primers or sealers to prepare surfaces, such as bare wood, metal, piping, fixtures, structures and equipment for finish coats
Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to heavy equipment, buildings, and/or other structures using brushes, spray guns, sandblasting equipment, or rollers
Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders
Erect scaffolding and swing gates, or set up ladders, to work above ground level safely
Mix and match colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colors and consistencies
Prepare glass for application of window tinting and install tinting materials as well as apply associated decals
Other duties as required in support of Riggs customers and business operations.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is routinely lifting up to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.
