Description A highly regarded boutique intellectual property firm is seeking a Senior Patent Prosecution Attorney to support a sophisticated portfolio focused on cutting-edge technologies at the intersection of artificial intelligence, financial blockchain systems, and cryptocurrency platforms. The ideal candidate is a USPTO-registered attorney with extensive experience drafting and prosecuting AI and blockchain-related patents, particularly in the crypto and decentralized finance (DeFi) space. This is a fully remote contract opportunity for an experienced attorney who thrives on complex, high-stakes patent prosecution in emerging technologies alongside a collaborative and well-regarded IP team. This is a great fit for attorneys who enjoy high-level patent prosecution work and want to apply their Big Law experience in a collaborative, technically sophisticated environment that values autonomy and work-life balance. Key Responsibilities: + Draft and prosecute complex U.S. patent applications in the areas of AI, machine learning, cryptographic systems, blockchain infrastructure, and decentralized exchanges (DEXs) + Strategically navigate subject matter eligibility issues and respond to USPTO Office Actions involving software and algorithmic claims + Conduct invention disclosure interviews and collaborate directly with engineers and technical leads + Analyze prior art, assess patentability, and develop prosecution strategies tailored to high-growth, venture-backed clients in emerging tech markets Requirements Qualifications: + 8+ years of U.S. patent prosecution experience, with a focus on software, AI/ML, and FinTech-related technologies + Deep familiarity with blockchain, cryptocurrency protocols, and decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms + Candidates who have drafted patent applications involving decentralized exchanges, cryptographic algorithms, tokenized assets, or smart contract frameworks are strongly preferred + Strong track record of independently drafting and prosecuting patents-not just reviewing or supporting filings + USPTO registration required; JD from accredited law school + Technical background in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or related field preferred + Prior experience with startups, venture-backed companies, or fast-paced IP portfolios is a plus + This is not a fit for candidates with limited exposure to crypto-related technologies or those who have only contributed to one or two filings in this space If you're a senior-level patent prosecutor with experience in AI, blockchain, or crypto-related technologies, and you're looking for impactful work in a flexible, remote environment-apply today!
