Real Estate Project Manager I

Contract Duration: Until 03/01/2026 (High possibility of extension)

Location: Jackson, MI (Hybrid – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday onsite)

Travel: Required within the lower peninsula of Michigan

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Project Manager I to join our dynamic team focused on acquiring land rights for clean energy projects, including solar, wind, battery storage, hydro, and some natural gas. This role will play a critical part in managing the land rights acquisition strategy, providing oversight to field agents, and ensuring effective communication with landowners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate project management, including negotiation and relationship-building skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of land rights acquisition strategies for clean energy projects.
  • Work closely with field agents and landowners, managing communications regarding economic terms, benefits, and restrictions.
  • Review title research, identifying exceptions, and ensuring clear communication with the project team regarding findings.
  • Develop project budgets and manage project timelines to ensure successful project execution.
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders, including engineering and development teams.
  • Lead and attend meetings (both virtual and in-person) to ensure project progress and alignment with goals.
  • Ensure smooth execution of project deliverables, from initiation to closeout, spanning 18 months per project (typically managing 4-6 projects at a time).
  • Oversee a team of field agents, ensuring daily rates, mileage, and expenses are properly validated.
  • Review and negotiate legal documents, redlines, and other agreements to ensure timely and successful contract closures.
  • Manage a team of field agents (35-40 people), ensuring smooth execution of land rights acquisition activities.
  • Collaboration with internal teams including Engineering, Development, and Legal departments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the Right of Way/Real Estate industry, with proven experience managing large-scale projects.
  • Strong ability to interpret survey drawings, engineering plans, construction drawings, and title documents.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Proven negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Background in process improvement and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and manage titles and related documentation effectively.
  • Familiarity with preliminary engineering drawings and understanding rights and restrictions is a plus.
  • Experience in construction project management will be considered.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects and deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, providing leadership and direction.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
