**This is a 12 month Limited-Term position that may be extended up to 24 months and/or with the possibility of becoming permanent.**

Under the close supervision of the TSOS I, the TST I is responsible for responding to and resolving public safety communications problems for State Agency clients. The TST will also functionally report to assigned shop lead as required. This is a trainee and first working level technician classification. The TST I will participate in on-the-job training and must also complete an in-house technical training program. The duties are performed by following FCC rules and regulations; utilizing at a minimum, office provided training, complex test equipment, computers, hand tools, the Telecommunications Division Manual (TDM), and technical literature. Incumbent will communicate effectively on all written and verbal interactions, frequently interfacing with customers and co-workers to resolve issues and collaborate. The TST I will maintain a professional and team centered environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Incumbent will work proficiently with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Travel to and working in remote locations, high-elevations, and inclement weather conditions may be required.

Working Conditions

In Office : This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.  

DMV Pull Program

Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

This position is located in San Bernardino County. Must maintain a residence within 50 mile radius of your assigned shop, area office or at management's discretion.

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.

Background Investigation: Candidates are required to submit to a background investigation process, including but not limited to Live Scan fingerprinting to obtain Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations clearances.
