The ideal candidate will have strong judgment, data analysis skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities: Review and analyze loan, mortgage, insurance, or credit applications and supporting documentation. Assess risk based on applicant information, financial status, credit reports, property evaluations, and policy guidelines. Make approval or denial decisions or recommend actions within assigned authority levels. Ensure underwriting decisions comply with internal policies, industry standards, and relevant regulations. Communicate clearly with agents, brokers, loan officers, or clients to request additional information or explain decisions. Maintain accurate and thorough records of underwriting decisions and justifications. Stay current with industry trends, underwriting best practices, and compliance requirements. Collaborate with team members, quality control, and management to ensure consistency and performance goals. Qualifications: Proven experience (2+ years) as an Underwriter in mortgage, insurance, financial services, or a related industry. Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements. Proficiency with underwriting systems and productivity tools (e.g., DU, LP, Encompass, or policy underwriting platforms). Excellent analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.
